Taylor had Ridge running all over the Aspen mountainside on The Bold and the Beautiful today, but he finally wore her down. If he knew she was going to have him literally chasing after her heart, I suspect Ridge would have put on running shoes, but I commend the man for keeping pace with his former track star of a soulmate.

As for Brooke, she was playing catch up. Not only had she been left behind by her husband without a word about where he was going, but she had to be filled in by her sister. Brooke thought this man was at the office when he was sprinting after another woman in another state to boot. The disrespect was palpable, but his wife didn’t let that stop her from getting her things together and going after him.

My mind turned to the classic rom-com My Best Friend’s Wedding but Brooke didn’t have a friend on the line telling her, “Ridge is chasing Taylor? You’re chasing Ridge? Who’s chasing you?”

Instead she had Donna making illogical statements like Ridge flew all the way to Aspen to see Steffy and just didn’t tell Brooke he was going to visit his daughter. Donna, please.

Here’s what else happened today on our soap.

The Bold and the Beautiful recap (Oct. 7)

As Ridge and Taylor were taking the scenic route on foot, Steffy was back at Bill’s Aspen house anxiously waiting for word on what’s going on with her parents. She had to be reassured by Thomas over the phone that Taylor would say yes to a life with their dad if presented with the opportunity.

He, however, hasn’t had a front row seat to Taylor’s pain when discussing how hard it’s been holding out hope for Ridge to come back to her. Before he arrived in Aspen, she was telling Steffy that she wanted to have more respect for herself and stop waiting around for a man who can’t seem to choose her and stick to that choice.

But it’s easy to say something like that when a future with the one you love isn’t in the cards. Ridge showed up and told Taylor that their love story isn’t over. He won’t talk about what happened with Brooke, he insists he’s not doing this for their kids, and all he wants is for his best friend to give him another chance.

Ridge acknowledged that Taylor is scared. He even took ownership for her choice to run from him. His track record with her is stunningly terrible. In his words, if he were the same man he once was, he’d tell her to keep running from him and never stop. But he’s not that man anymore, he’s changed. Taylor makes him want to be a better man and that’s what he needs in his life.

After traversing a few miles at a light jog, and listening to Ridge’s impassioned speech that even included the 2010s Bold and the Beautiful catch-phrase “We were robbed,” Taylor gave into her heart’s desire and asked Ridge what took him so long before the two shared another epic kiss.

At the time, Brooke was likely still in the air trying to make her way to Aspen. She’d took the Forrester jet out from under Donna and Eric who were supposed to be going the Caribbean. Though that’s not to say her sister minded, she’s on the edge of her seat just like us and waiting to know what happens next.

What’s going to be annoying about these next few episodes, however, is everyone’s incessant passing of the buck for why this situation happened. Steffy blames Brooke for the previous rupture in her parents’ marriage even though Ridge is the one ultimately responsible for the pain he put Taylor through and still could put her through if he goes back to his wife.

Donna and Brooke are blaming Steffy and Thomas for “harassing” their father and pushing him to take their mother back even though Ridge is grown and can make his own decisions. And then there’s the call to Child Protective Services which is the real culprit but really doesn’t let Ridge off the hook either.

Whether or not Brooke made the call, he still chose to leave her for Taylor without letting her know she was being left. Whichever way this story twists next, if he breaks his best friend’s heart down the line or stands form in his decision to spend the rest of his life with her, that’s on Ridge. The soap may not hold him to his word, but I sure will.

Until next time, Bold fans, stay beautiful!
