While ABC did plan to air a new episode of General Hospital today, the episode has been preempted by ABC to make room for special ABC News coverage. Shortly before today’s scheduled broadcast of General Hospital, ABC confirmed the episode originally slated to air this afternoon has been pulled and will not air as originally planned.

Due to ongoing news coverage connected to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol news coverage, ABC has announced it will not be airing a new episode of General Hospital this afternoon. Instead, the episode will be preempted and aired on Friday, Oct. 14 instead.

It’s not uncommon for ABC to pre-empt an hour of daytime programming when a timely news story occurs. And the good news is that fans across the US will all be able to enjoy the episode in its entirety on Friday.
