As we get closer and closer to the release of Matthew Perry’s memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing which will be out on Nov. 1, we’re getting details ahead of its release that gives us an idea of what’s to come when we pick up the book.

The Friends actor will be giving fans an intimate look into his life, especially with his sobriety struggles. Recently, it was revealed just how bad his addiction was. At one point, in only 2018, the actor almost died from opioid use.

The memoir will cover many topics, including his seemingly harsh feelings towards another actor. What did Perry say about Keanu Reeves? Here’s what we know.

What did Matthew Perry say about Keanu Reeves?

UPDATE, Perry issues apology: Matthew Perry shared a statement with Deadline, apologizing for his comments about Reeves. He told the outlet he’s “actually a big fan of Keanu” and that he “chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.” This is a bit confusing as it seems like he was targeting the actor directly. Perhaps there will be more clarity when we can all read the book.

Page Six shared a couple of quotes from the upcoming memoir, which clearly state Perry’s feelings toward Reeves. The outlet reports the following quote:

"Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?"

Perry and Phoenix starred in the 1988 film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. The two actors became close friends, just like their onscreen counterparts. And while Reeves did not star in the movie, he was close friends with Phoenix in real life.

Then, when Perry looks back on actor Chris Farley’s death, who was his co-star in the movie Almost Heroes, he again mentions Reeves when he found out Farley died of an overdose, according to Page Six.

"I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out. Keanu Reeves walks among us."

Of course Perry is a beloved star, but so is Reeves. The hatred the Friends star seems to have toward his fellow Canadian actor is leaving us really confused. Though they have never acted onscreen together, everybody knows everybody in the business. Or at least the two might have mutual friends.

We’re not sure what the connection between them is, but there’s clearly hard feelings from Perry’s side. Perhaps there’s further explanation in the memoir. We don’t have much longer to wait to find out.
