The Tower Ballroom was once again home to Strictly Come Dancing when the BBC series returned to the iconic location for the first time in three years this weekend.

When we last saw Strictly in Blackpool, Saffron Barker and AJ Pritchard competed against Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice in the Dance-Off, with the latter couple being eliminated from the competition. Now, a host of new contestants take to the legendary dancefloor to give us their most powerful, spectacular routines in the hopes of still being in the competition when the show returns to Elstree next week.

Strictly‘s return to Blackpool was a spectacle for the ages, but just what exactly went down in the Tower Ballroom?

Here are the Strictly spoilers, results, and scores from the Week 9 Saturday night show of Blackpool Week.

Strictly spoilers and results: Week 9 Leaderboard

Blackpool is when Strictly goes larger-than-life and that’s exactly what we saw this week, as we had some truly show-stopping routines. Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima powered their way through a fiery Paso Doble, while Will Mellor and Nancy Xu closed the show with a party, and Fluer East and Vito Coppola got that long-awaited first 40 of the series with an awesome Destiny’s Child-themed Couple’s Choice.

But Blackpool is the home of Ballroom and it was Hamza and Jowita, and Helena and Gorka that brought the glamour with their respectively stunning American Smooths and Quicksteps.

Here are the results from the Strictly Week 9 Saturday night show from Blackpool, the scores, and the Leaderboard we were left with:

  • Fleur & Vito danced the Couple’s Choice – 10, 10, 10, 10 = 40
  • Helen & Gorka danced the Quickstep – 9, 10, 10, 10 = 39
  • Hamza & Jowita danced the American Smooth – 9, 9, 10, 10 = 38
  • Molly & Carlos danced the Jive – 8, 9, 9, 9 = 35
  • Tyler & Dianne danced the Salsa – 8, 9, 9, 9 = 35
  • Will & Nancy danced the Samba – 8, 9, 9, 9 = 35
  • Kym & Graziano danced the Paso Doble – 8, 8, 8, 9 = 33
  • Ellie T & Johannes danced the American Smooth – 7, 8, 8, 8 = 31

Who is in danger on Strictly Week 9?

Tony Adams’ luck ran out last week when he found himself in the Dance-Off, with the public vote being unable to save him from the position he was in at the bottom of the Leaderboard. That’s an indicator of how the competition is heating up and how other couples are endearing themselves to the public.

Tyler and Dianne found themselves in the bottom two last week, but previous weeks have shown us that the public can ensure that doesn’t happen two weeks in a row, as each of the unlikely couples in the Dance-Off has had at least a one-week bounce back to safety the next week. Is to too late in the competition for Tyler to get that spring to safety?

Speaking of how far we are into the competition, post-Blackpool is usually when the-best-dancers-that-the-public-haven’t-connected-with start to find themselves in the Dance-Off, highlighting that the public vote is starting to carry more weight. However, we’ve seen that happen quite a bit this year already with some of the strongest performers ending up in Dances-Offs pretty early.

Right now, it looks like Fleur, Helen and Hamza are the safest. Anything can happen on Strictly, but realistically anything can happen below those three because of how high up the Leaderboard they are. Ellie Taylor is the most vulnerable but she has been saved by the public on multiple occasions, while Kym Marsh has performed well in the public vote as well in recent weeks. That three way tie between Tyler, Molly, and Will leaves all three vulnerable.

So, yeah, anything can happen on Strictly, especially at Blackpool!

Update, Sunday November 20: Tyler and Dianne had to Dance-Off against Molly and Carlos on the Sunday night results show, resulting in the former couple being eliminated. The judges had a split decision this week, with Craig and Motsi choosing to save Molly, and Anton opting to save Tyler. Head Judge Shirley made the casting vote, saving Molly and Carlos.
