Remember how I said all the reboots and prequels are getting boring? Well, that’s why I’m not particularly excited about the upcoming Alien project. Here’s what you should know about it. During Disney Investor Day in 2021, it was announced that FX on Hulu would be bringing back the classic sci-fi story for a TV show from Fargo creator Noah Hawley. Details about the plot are pretty scarce, though Disney teased: “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”

After filming delays due, Alien is finally scheduled to start shooting in 2023. The good news is that FX chairman John Landgraf has already teased the show is similar to Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), but we have yet to see what that really means. At this point, we don’t know what’ll make this show original or worth watching, so we’re expecting to skip this one. But hey, who knows? Maybe the trailer will blow our minds. We’ll just have to wait to find out. For now, it’s not high on our lists.

American Horror Story season 12

Okay, I have serious American Horror Story burnout right now, and I know I’m not alone in that feeling. The horror series debuted in 2011 on FX and had several strong seasons before falling off. Though it’s never been perfect, the series has been extremely entertaining and at times very compelling. Some of the acting performances have been outstanding, and a handful of the characters are kind of iconic at this point. But now, all these years later, the show has gone on for too long.

It’s unfortunate, but we likely won’t be checking out American Horror Story season 12. The most recent season, NYC, just came to a close on November 16, and it really felt like no one watched it. I tried, but it felt so stale and overdone that I couldn’t make it past the third episode. The show has been renewed through season 13, so it’s not going anywhere soon. But we wouldn’t recommend you keep watching.
