Survivor 43 episode 10 tells fans what they already know – do not get attached to other players. Survivor is a reality TV show where viewers can expect the least expected and that’s especially true when it comes down to tribal council. With only a few episodes left in the season, players are vying for a spot in the final three and who they don’t want to see in the end.

After last week’s double-boot episode where two Coco castaways were voted out, this week’s vote decided to tackle someone who was equally strong in challenges and their social game.

If viewers have learned anything from this season, they know players might approach Survivor differently, but there’s commonality when it comes to “backstabbing” someone else to move further in the game.

Do plans in Survivor 43 episode 10 measure up or do they falter?

Survivor 43 episode 10 continues the new era of gameplay by highlighting how castaways are willing to adapt to new voting scenarios. Despite James and Ryan going home last week, and Jeanine being sent home as the first jury member, Survivor has proven that “being on the bottom” doesn’t mean being voted off is a certainty.

After Owen escaped last week’s vote, he wasn’t even discussed as a potential option (or at least from what we saw on TV). On top of that, much like last week highlighting the remaining players being split into two groups, something similar happened after the reward challenge. Noelle went from last to first to win the challenge and she then picked three others to join her in the food reward. Noelle, Jesse, Owen, and Sami received lunch, letters from home, and were able to strategize.

Despite not winning any kind of food or letters from home, the remaining four came together to do their own strategizing. After all of these talks, the biggest takeaway from Survivor 43 episode 10 might be the dominant performance from Jesse Lopez. Not only was he emotionally moved by letters from home, but the letters also reinforced his focus as his kids told him to “get that money, baby.”

Not only does Jesse have a plan and it’s produced brilliantly onscreen, the production team once again creates doubt and mystery surrounding who might be going home. Even when Noelle voiced her own concerns, “I’m just terrified the girls are already saying my name,” several players had their names mentioned. This leads to uncertainty, even when you have one player “calling the shots.”

As Jesse explains, “When you blindside somebody, you have to know what you’re doing here. Otherwise, it might come back and blow up on you.” Not only do they highlight his plan step-by-step on screen, but they also provide incredible freeze-frame moments whenever an item gets checked off his list.

  1. Have a Cover Story
  2. Throw the Fall Guy Under the Bus
  3. Have a Backup Plan

Jesse’s plan might not be entirely brand-new information for players or viewers; however, the way it was structured in the episode provides one of the best moments in Survivor history. After seeing Karla be the top force of the season, this episode might be indicative of Jesse’s standing in the game. Jesse was already established as a serious contender, but Survivor 43 episode 10 gave fans a moment where “the winner of Survivor 43” announcement only makes sense now if Jesse’s name is read at the end.

Yes, it’s one moment from one episode within an entire season, but that’s what a game-winning move looks like, right? It’s still early and this wonderfully produced segment doesn’t mean Jesse is the winner, but if he does win, look back to Survivor 43 episode 10 as an awesome reminder of the game Jesse has played and what it took to win this season. If anything, it’s a tremendous sendoff for Noelle as an incredible plan was set in motion for her to be voted out.

Did you enjoy seeing Jesse’s plan play out and did Survivor 43 episode 10 solidify Jesse as one of the top players in the season? Will Gabler’s talk with Karla about Jesse and Cody running the show come back to haunt Jesse in the next episode? Will Cody saying aloud that they’re both “steering the ship” lead them to being shipwrecked? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
