What is new comedy Shrinking on Apple TV+ about?

Harrison Ford is bringing his talents to the small screens in one of his first major television roles. You can see the Han Solo actor in Apple TV+‘s upcoming comedy, Shrinking!

Ford takes on the role of Dr. Paul Rhodes and stars alongside lead actor Jason Segel who plays Jimmy. Segel also serves as a writer and executive producer behind the scenes. Christa Miller as Liz, Jessica Williams as Gaby, Michael Urie as Brian, Luke Tennie as Sean, and Lukita Maxwell round out the cast.

Two Ted Lasso talents are also bringing their skills to the series! Co-creator of Ted Lasso, Bill Lawrence, serves as a writer and executive producer on the new project. Actor, writer, and co-executive producer on the 2020 sports comedy-drama, Brett Goldstein, will also take on writing and EP duties.

The 10-episode series makes its debut on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 with the first two episodes. One installment will then be released weekly on Apple TV+. So what’s the new show all about? We’ve got the answer for you below!

What is Shrinking on Apple TV+ about?

Shrinking is centered around Jimmy (Segel) who has just lost his wife. In his grief, he’s struggling with the loss, while trying to be a dad, friend, and therapist, Apple TV+ shares. That’s when Jimmy decides to try something new – provide “unfiltered, brutal honesty,” including with his clients.

Ignoring his training and ethics, this breaks the rules at his job. But this new take leads to Jimmy making big changes in people’s lives, as well as his own, according to the streaming service. Does this actually help his clients in a way, which in turn helps himself? We’ll find out soon!
