The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are taking matters into their own hands once again with Netflix’s upcoming docuseries, Harry & Meghan. The couple previously spoke about the hardships they’ve faced in a sit-down interview with Oprah. But this tale will be more in-depth.

Oscar-nominated director Liz Garbus helped to create the story with executive producers Erica Sashin, Mark Monroe, Dan Cogan, Liz Garbus, Ben Browning, Chanel Pysnik, Jon Bardin, Mala Chapple, and Angus Wall. The production is co-produced between Netflix, Story Syndicate Production, Diamond Docs, and Harry and Meghan’s production company, Archewell Productions.

Whether you’re an avid fan of the royal family and follow all the news about them, or you’re someone who doesn’t at all, everyone has heard about the former prince and actress. The two still have their “Royal Highness” styles, but are not allowed to use them.

Now, we’re going to understand exactly why that happened. Here’s what we know about the docuseries.

5 things to know about the Harry & Meghan documentary

Harry & Meghan was expected to be released in December 2022. But after Netflix’s The Crown season 5 received backlash this year, the streamer decided to push the release of the documentary, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The production has been split into two volumes. Volume I is set to debut Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022 on Netflix. You can expect the second batch of episodes one week later on Thursday, Dec. 15.

While we wait, we have some information on what to expect according to a Netflix press release. Here’s five things to know about the doc:

  1. The docuseries will explore the couple’s “high-profile love story”, going all the way back to the early days of their courtship across a total of six episodes.
  2. Harry and Meghan will be able to share their story from their own perspective. When documentaries are made about the royal family, the members are usually not a part of them.
  3. Viewers will learn about the challenges that forced the couple to step back from being full-time, senior members of the royal family. The couple announced this decision in January 2020, and this includes them being financially independent.
  4. We’re going to hear not only from Harry and Meghan directly, but some of their friends and family who have never spoken up publicly about their relationship and struggles before.
  5. The documentary will also explore what the British Commonwealth is today, and the royals’ relationship with the press in interviews with historians.
