Back in 1969, everyone’s favorite snowman named Frosty came thumpity-thump-thumping onto our television sets and our hearts with such whimsical innocence and charm.

The story centered around a group of school children that build the figure of a snowman and use a phony magician’s hat to bring him to life. When the magician sees that his hat brought the snowman to life, he attempts to retrieve it and, thereby, profiting off of his lost property.

Ever since its release on CBS on Dec. 7, 1969, it has become a Christmas classic for generations on and has been played for almost every Christmas since. The special was directed by the iconic animation duo Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass and it became one of their holiday classics, which also includes Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

The duo were on a hot streak in the 1960s-70s and kept the ball rolling with as many holiday classics that they could muster and that kids could sit down with family and enjoy and Frosty the Snowman is no exception.

The cast of Frosty the Snowman

The cast of this marvelous Christmas special sees a myriad of actors that have graced their talents across the small screen. The voice cast sees:
