Is there anything more exciting and refreshing than the start of a new year? At Hidden Remote, we love when a new year arrives as it always brings new shows and movies to our screens (and theaters, too). There is so much, it can be tough to keep track! But we are here to help. Let’s begin with HBO and HBO Max. In this post, we list the five HBO Max movies and shows we are looking forward to the most in January 2023.

Writing and seeing “2023” is going to take some getting used to, but ready or not, a new year has arrived. If you don’t already have access to the HBO network (and/or the HBO Max streaming platform), we highly suggest you sign up. Why not start with a free trial so you can check out everything it has to offer with no strings attached? Once you do that, read on for what’s coming in January. And if you already have access, let’s dive right in!

5 HBO Max movies and shows not to miss in January 2023

The following are in order of release date…

In With The Old

Release date: January 11

A fan of old homes that pack a lot of history? Same! In fact, I love mixing modern decor with a vintage touch. In With The Old sees designers transforming old and abandoned buildings into new structures, giving them a second life. Stream In With The Old on the Magnolia Network and Discovery+ in addition to HBO Max.

Velma

Release date: January 12

Yes, this is the Velma from the Scooby-Doo franchise, but don’t expect her to be anything like you remember. This animated series is an adult comedy that will focus on Velma’s origin story and the character will be voiced by Mindy Kaling.

The Climb

Release date: January 12

Jason Momoa is hosting this reality competition series that will see amateur climbers go through mental and physical challenges as they compete for a sponsored climbing career and a $100,000 cash prize.

The Last of Us

Release date: January 15

From this list, The Last of Us is the one I am most looking forward to watching. I am a fan of the game it is based on and have been keeping up with updates. Needless to say, I’m glad it is finally coming out! The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal (I know what you’re thinking, say less, right?) and Bella Ramsey. The story takes place 20 years after a virus wipes out modern civilization.

Cabin Chronicles

Release date: January 20

If you love HGTV and learning about new buildings and homes, you’ll love Cabin Chronicles, which will explore the architecture and design behind some of the most beautiful vacation homes. This series will also be available on the Magnolia Network and Discovery+.

If you’d like to know which movies and shows are leaving HBO Max in January, we’ve got you covered there, too. Here’s the big list.
