What time is Surviving R. Kelly: The Final Chapter on Lifetime tonight? (Jan. 2, 2023)

The Peabody award winning docuseries Surviving R. Kelly returns with its final chapter in a two-night event airing Jan. 2-3 on Lifetime. This last segment will follow the multiple federal and state trials the disgraced R&B artist faced.

Viewers can anticipate learning details about the cases that hadn’t been shared with the public as well as a dive into the journey to the verdict the world had been waiting to hear. Over 60 voices and testimonials are featured in the docuseries’ conclusion.

The first night of Surviving R. Kelly‘s return centers on Angelo Clary’s recount of the events leading up to his daughter’s participation in Gayle King’s now infamous interview with Kelly. Azriel had been instructed to lie during the interview. The Clarys will share about the intimidation tactics they endured from the singer’s supports as well.

Also featured during Night 1: Legal experts and journalists are expected to weigh in Kelly’s racketeering charges and there will be details shared on the aftermath surrounding the gun threat during the premiere screening of the doc.

Night one makes its debut on Monday, Jan. 2 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on Lifetime with two episodes.

• “30 Years in the Making” – The start of the docuseries follows R. Kelly’s New York Federal trial as the survivors and their family members recount the events that led to this day.
• “Taking a Stand” – Faith (Jane Doe #6), prepares herself for facing R. Kelly in court. Meanwhile the singer’s supporters make noise as more people deal with charges and accusations of their own.

The premiere is over two hours long and will re-air as separate episodes. Episode 1 can be rewatched at 11:06 p.m. the night of the premiere. The episodes will re-air together starting at 7 p.m. ET on Lifetime ahead of Night 2’s two-hour finale for the docuseries.
