What is Lioness starring Nicole Kidman on Paramount+ about?

Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman is taking the lead in front of the camera and behind the scenes in her new Paramount+ project, Lioness! The actress will play Kaitlyn Meade, and serve as an executive producer with her own production company, Blossom Films.

Series leads are Zoe Saldaña as Joe and Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz Manuelos. Also rounding out the cast are actors Jill Wagner as Bobby, Dave Annable as Neil, LaMonica Garrett as Tucker, James Jordan as Two Cup, Austin Hébert as Randy, Hannah Love Lanier as Kate, Stephanie Nur as Aaliyah, and Jonah Wharton as Tex.

Executive producer Taylor Sheridan serves as showrunner in his ongoing work with the streaming service. Other shows he’s lead on Paramount+ include 1883, 1923, and Tulsa King. Saldaña, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone, and John Hillcoat also take on EP duties.

What is Lioness starring Nicole Kidman on Paramount+ about?

Lioness, which is based on a real-life CIA program, is centered around Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira) and Joe (Saldaña). Manuelos is a “a rough-around-the-edges but passionate” Marine who is asked to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team, per the synopsis. The team is tasked with taking down a terrorist organization from within. Saldaña is the station chief of the program whose responsibility is to train, manage, and lead, the female undercover ops.

Kidman will also play an important character as Kaitlyn Meade. The CIA senior supervisor has to face personal and professional struggles – being a woman in a high-ranking position, a wife “who longs for the attention she herself can’t even give,” and finds herself a mentor to someone seeming to go down the same rocky path she’s found herself on, Paramount+ shares.
