The day is finally here! Fans of the Naughty Dog/PlayStation video game, The Last of Us, have been eagerly waiting for the HBO adaptation to arrive. We have very high hopes for the series, expecting the show to be one of the best of the year. Tonight, we get to see the series premiere!

The show centers around Joel and 14-year-old Ellie. The hardened survivor has to smuggle the young teen out of an oppressive quarantine zone, per the synopsis. The world we’re about to enter is very different as the story takes place two decades after modern civilization has been destroyed. The job starts out like any other, but soon becomes a “brutal and heartbreaking journey” for the two. And the duo will have to depend on each other to survive, per the synopsis.

So what time do you need to tune in tonight? How many days do you need to mark on your calendar this season? We’ve got the answer for you below!

How many episodes are in The Last of Us on HBO?

HBO ordered a nine-episode inaugural season for The Last of Us. The post-apocalyptic drama will air tonight, Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET on the network. The premiere episode will also begin streaming at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max. Going forward, one new episode will be released on the network and streaming service until the finale on Sunday, March 15, 2023.

Actor Pedro Pascal and actress Bella Ramsey take on the lead roles of Joel and Ellie, respectively. There’s also a cool easter egg for fans of the video game! Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who voiced Joel and Ellie in the game, will also star in the series as different characters. I wonder what their roles will be!

Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Elaine Miles as Florence round out the cast.

The nine-episode season of The Last of Us premieres tonight, Sunday Jan. 15, 2023 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max. Episodes are released weekly until the finale on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
