Court is in session! The newest NBC revival sitcom Night Court is on tonight! The original series of the same name aired from 1984-1992. This newly minted version follows the night shift of a Manhattan municipal court presided over by Judge Abby Stone, daughter of the late Harold T. Stone (portrayed by late comedian Harry Anderson) who takes up her father’s former bench on the night shift at the Manhattan Criminal Court.

The show offers up a cast of new characters including India de Beaufort (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) as Olivia, assistant district attorney assigned to Abby’s court, Kapil Talwalkar (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) as Neil, Abby’s clerk, and Lacretta (Law and Order: SVU) as Donna “Gurgs” Gurganous, the bailiff for Abby’s court.

The series is bringing back a familiar face from the original series as John Larroquette (The Librarians) portrays Dan Fielding, the former assistant district attorney for Harry’s court who comes back to serve as a public defender under Abby.

This is such exciting news for fans of the original as the show will provide a more modern take on the humor found in the 80s classic. Even new viewers should be enticed to learn about the original as well before watching.
