What is the documentary Pretty Baby on Hulu about?

Brooke Shields became a known name in the industry following her role as Violet in the 1978 film, Pretty Baby. The child actress and model was only 12 years old when she landed the leading role. Throughout the years she starred in numerous shows and movies, including The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love. Now, a documentary about the personality will be coming to Hulu.

The star has had an interesting and controversial career. In Pretty Baby, her character was a child prostitute and the film featured nude scenes of Shields even though she was under age at the time the production was filmed.

When she was 10 years old, her mother allowed for nude photos to be taken of a 10-year-old Shields for Playboy’s Sugar ‘n’ Spice. At 14, she was the youngest fashion model to be on the cover of Vogue.

What is the documentary Pretty Baby on Hulu about?

According to ABC News and Good Morning America, the two-part documentary will tell the story of Shields growing up in the public eye, and talk about a society that “objectifies women and girls.” Shields will also reflect on her career and how she learned to embrace her own identity and agency, GMA shares.

The film is set to premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on Friday, Jan. 20. The doc will then stream on Hulu at a later date. No release date has been announced yet.

Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields is directed by Lana Wilson, who also took charge behind the camera for Taylor Swift’s documentary, Miss Americana on Netflix. GMA anchor George Stefanapolis and his wife Ali Wentworth executive produce the film through their production company, BedBy8.
