How many years have passed in Teen Wolf: The Movie since the series?

Teen Wolf: The Movie has finally arrived at Paramount+ and it’s everything we predicted it would be!

Scott McCall is still the same awkward yet brave fellow who is determined to protect his friends; Lydia Martin is the brainiac who is as successful as she is beautiful. And, of course, Derek Hale is the brooding man he’s always been. Though the personalities of our favorite characters have stayed the same, time definitely hasn’t, as it seems these characters (just like their real-life actors) are much older and wiser.

So, how long has it been since the events in the MTV original series Teen Wolf? Has time passed in Beacon Hills, or are we somehow stuck in some time loop? Here’s what to know.

When does Teen Wolf: The Movie takes place?

Though the face of these characters hasn’t aged a single bit, they aren’t stuck in a time loop or anything of the sort. Rather, 15 years have passed since we bid farewell to Scott McCall and his best friend, Stiles Stilinski. And in these years, everyone has either stayed the same or changed completely.

Here’s what everyone is up to!

As for Scott, he is running an animal shelter next door to his mentor and former boss, Alan Deaton. Scott helps care for animals, especially those stuck in dangerous situations, such as the deadly series of fires in Beacon Hills. He moved to Los Angeles to do bigger and better things, but he’s not the only one who’s moving on up.

Lydia oversees a sustainable energy company, which is pretty on par for her because she loved the sciences in high school. Her high school ex-boyfriend, Jackson Whittemore, still seems to be reasonably close to her, as he is only one call away when he’s not with his partner, Ethan Steiner.

Malia Hale is still the same werecoyote we know and love. She still doesn’t like wearing clothes and doesn’t know how to hold back her blunt emotions. Even so, as always, she is willing to do anything to protect her friends. Her father, Peter, is the menacing man we hate to love. However, nowadays, he seems to be much more helpful with the supernatural events of Beacon Hills.

Speaking of the Hale family, Derek, former Alpha, is a single father to Eli. When he’s not chasing after his rebellious son, he works as a consultant for Sheriff Stilinski (and his fellow law enforcers, Mason and Deputy Parrish), as he tries to uncover the strange occurrences of their small town.

Liam Dunbar, the underling of Scott, works as a restaurant server but is always ready for whatever malice awaits. The same goes for Chris Argent, a soldier who never puts down his weapon for a single second.

Last but not least, we have Stiles Stilinski. Though Stiles doesn’t appear in Teen Wolf: The Movie, based on what his father hinted, Stiles has carried on with becoming an FBI agent. His detective skills in his youth carried over into adulthood, making him a man even Derek would call on if he needed to figure out a few mysteries.
