January 2023 saw the premiere of Married at First Sight season 16 as 10 Tennessee based hopefuls took a leap of faith to find their forever loves. The reality marriage series continues in February on Lifetime, however, the network’s slate for this month is primarily filled with Ripped from the Headlines titles and true crime films based on books by best-selling author Ann Rule.

Viewers of the channel can’t anticipate a movie akin to Reba McEntire’s The Hammer, but Lifetime will be closing out their notorious women slate that kicked off last month with a dive into Gwen Shamblin’s life. In a Lifetime press release, Shamblin’s described as “the controversial religious leader and Christian diet guru who positioned herself as God’s prophet and preached the virtues of being thin.” The film covers her rise in faith-based circles and her death in May 2021.

The biggest Lifetime release in February will likely be The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story which is executive produced by Elizabeth Smart. The movie is based on the true story about Kara Robinson’s escape after being captured by a serial killer when she was 15 years old.

A special called Escaping Captivity: The Kara Robinson Story will air after the film’s premiere. Also executive produced by Smart, the special consists of the real life Kara Robinson Chamberlin recounting her abduction along with exclusive interviews with her parents, the high school boyfriend who supported her after the horrifying ordeal, and law enforcement.
