The Ark will premiere on SYFY on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Before you get into it, you’ll want to know what it’s about. Here’s all you need to know.
Fans of The Expanse and Dark Matter will want to pay attention. There’s a new science fiction series heading to SYFY, and it’s going to be more than worth checking out. Just knowing that Dean Devlin is behind the series should be enough to get you to tune in. Throw in the fact that Jonathan Glassner is a co-showrunner, you’re got a winning team.
Of course, before you jump into any new series, you want to know what it’s going to be about. Is this yet another space show? What makes it different to everything else? Let’s take a look at everything we know.
What is The Ark on SYFY about?
The new series is set 100 years into the future. It follows a group of people on Ark One, a shop that is set to help with planetary colonization to help the human race survive. The mission is set up with a leadership and there are plenty of supplies to get started, but what if all that goes wrong?
Along the way, there’s a major event that knocks out a lot of the supplies. The entire leadership team is killed in this, and it’s up to the survivors to figure out how to thrive and keep the mission going. Richard Fleeshman, who stars in the series, described the show as Lord of the Flies in space, and that’s certainly the vibe I get.
Everyone needs to figure out how they’re going to survive. They all have the same goal, but they have different ideas how to achieve it. What will happen throughout the journey?
The Ark premieres on Wednesday, Feb. 1 on SYFY. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
