Hallmark Channel: What is Sweeter Than Chocolate about?

Hallmark Channel kicks of its Loveuary slate for February 2023 tonight with Sweeter Than Chocolate, a romance that’s packed with a savory tale about love and the promise of a soulmate.

The film follows Lucy Sweet, a chocolatier whose chocolate shop has become the place to be on Valentine’s Day due to a rumor about her special Cupid chocolates. They’re said to lead anyone who eats one to their true love on February 14th.

Of course, this is the kind of rumor that leads to a news story and local TV reporter Dean Chase is on the case! He wants to debunk the local legend and that’s exactly the last thing Lucy wants to happen. Her shop has been thriving because of this belief about her sweet recipe, so reluctantly she agrees to join Dean as he interviews couples who say they owe their love story to Lucy’s creations.

Along the way, Lucy and Dean open up about their own love lives. They’ve both experienced heartbreak but while his has made him skeptical about romance, Lucy’s not willing to give up on the power that love can have on one’s life. Spending time together has Dean reevaluating his cynical opinion, but when one of the couples have a disastrous falling out, Lucy begins to wonder if maybe she’s the one who should be waving the white flag on love.

Is Sweeter Than Chocolate based on a book?

Yes! The film is based on the book of the same name by Lizzie Shane. It’s a recent release from Hallmark Publishing, the romance made its debut Jan. 17, 2023.
