Happy Friday to all my lovely people of the world. It is a beautiful day to head to Starbucks, grab a coffee and watch a movie. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters and available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

When I tell you this is one of the widest ranges of movies being released in one weekend, I mean it. So we have a bear on cocaine (true story), people realizing they have a ghost, a revolution for Jesus, and a movie that might have a happy ending? What a sentence.

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • Cocaine Bear, Theaters
  • Jesus Revolution, Theaters
  • My Happy Ending, Theaters
  • We Have a Ghost, Netflix
  • Bruiser, Hulu

Cocaine Bear seems like a made-up movie that would be dropped straight to VOD, starring Bruce Willis fighting a bear while on cocaine. However, that is not this movie, it is based on the true story of a 500-pound black bear that went on a rampage murdering people after ingesting cocaine. You are like, NO WAY, this is true, folks, it is a true story. I am sure it’ll be Hollywood-ized, but you have Elizabeth Banks directing the film with Ray Liotta, Matthew Rhys, Keri Russell, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. starring in the movie. I will be seated front and center upon its release.

We have a brand new movie from the creative mind behind the Paranormal Activity franchise, Happy Death Day 2U, and Freaky in the Netflix movie, We Have a Ghost. The film follows the story of a ghost named Ernest haunting Kevin and his family. However, it turns the family into massive social media stars. The film stars David Harbour, Jennifer Coolidge, and Anthony Mackie.
