Paul Rudd recalls ‘strange’ feeling during his time on Friends
By Sandy C.
Paul Rudd continues to be one of the biggest stars in the business. In fact, the actor is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. Rudd recently starred in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. And though he is well known for his role in the Marvel movies, many fans remember Rudd as Mike Hannigan, Phoebe Buffay’s (Lisa Kudrow) boyfriend (and later husband) on the hit sitcom, Friends.
Over 10 seasons Friends ran for 236 episodes. And throughout its run, featured many cameos and special appearances from some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Some of these include Christina Applegate, Reese Witherspoon, George Clooney, Winona Ryder, Brad Pitt, and, of course Paul Rudd.
Initially, Rudd’s role was not intended to be part of the sitcom for more than a few episodes. But, to Rudd’s surprise he made it all the way to the finale, something that made Rudd feel “strange” and out of place.

In an interview with CBS News, Paul Rudd shares how much fun he had with the cast and crew filming Friends. However, as grateful as he was for being part of the series, he recalls it being “surreal” and “I never knew that I was going to be in as many [episodes] as I was.”
"The actor continues, “It also felt strange. I was in that last episode, and I just thought, ‘I shouldn’t be here….’ They were all crying…and I was just like, ‘whoa!'”"
Fans can definitely understand what Paul Rudd is saying. He loved his time on Friends, but having joined the crew towards the end, he was never as close to the sitcom as the original six.
Paul Rudd made his Friends debut in season 9 episode 3 and went on to star in 16 episodes, including the finale, “The Last One.”
