Welp, as expected, Liam blew his top over Hope’s decision to bring Thomas back as the lead designer of Hope for the Future (HFTF) on The Bold and the Beautiful. Though, to be fair to Liam, she did go back on her word and he did at least try to talk calmly about his wife’s choice which flew in the face of everything they’d agreed upon the night prior.

Also, Liam asked two very important questions that Hope sidestepped. First, he correctly deduced that Douglas decided to come home to the cabin because he found out his parents were working together again. When he asked for confirmation on the subject, Hope nodded but she didn’t elaborate on that point.

Second, Liam asked her why it is that she can’t seem to stop giving Thomas chance after chance. Of course, she didn’t answer him. So their conversation ended up being mostly cyclical with Liam trying to process that Hope went back on her word and let Thomas back in their lives again. He truly just doesn’t understand how Thomas is able to wiggle his way back into Hope’s good graces, but he’s an expert at it.

Hope tried to say that Thomas has changed and he’s learned from his mistakes, but Liam wouldn’t hear it. In his mind, he‘s made mistakes. He even classified himself as the king of them, but Thomas doesn’t make mistakes, he obsesses and it can turn dangerous which is what Liam is concerned about and Hope seems to be ignoring.

By the end of the episode, Hope asserted herself and cut off Liam’s line of questioning and picking at the choice she’d made. As she’d told him before, Thomas has been respecting her boundaries. He already expressed that he’d step down from the line if it put pressure on her marriage. And, after the preview when he kissed her, he took no for an answer and didn’t press her on having a romantic relationship.

Not to mention–though Hope didn’t bring this up–the last time Thomas did something egregious, it wasn’t in service to getting Hope to be with him. He was trying to get his parents back together which had nothing to do with her even though it did hurt her mom. At least right now, he’s not obsessed with her, he’s on a good path, and she’s choosing to believe in him.

Once Hope laid down that she wasn’t going back on her choice and that she needs Liam to basically fall in line and accept it because her brand is important to her, he did as she asked. He also assured her that he wasn’t going to let Thomas get in the middle of their marriage and she agreed.

The Bold and the Beautiful recap (March 14)

You know who might get in the middle? Douglas. After he came back from the cafeteria with Paris and told Thomas, Steffy, and Taylor that he’s happy about his parents being on good terms once more, he got a moment alone with his dad. It’s in this scene that he admitted that he’s still holding onto hope that his parents will one day reunite and he can live with them both.

Remember, Thomas and Hope were briefly married back when they were both grieving their respective losses. They’re marriage was dissolved when Hope found out Thomas hid that her daughter Beth was alive and had been adopted by his sister, Steffy, who didn’t know her real identity. Though she likely would have annulled the union anyway even if he hadn’t schemed to hold onto it because she was still in love with Liam at the time.

Thomas gently reminded Douglas to respect Hope’s marriage to Liam and that no matter what he’s loved. Still, his son’s preoccupation with his parents’ relationship could become a problem. Steffy’s concerned about it.

She let Taylor in on her worry over Douglas seemingly deciding to remove himself from the situation regarding Hope and Thomas, hence why he chose to live at the Cliff House, only to change his mind upon learning his parents were in a better place.

Taylor agreed that they should keep an eye on how much he’s investing in and being affected by the co-parents’ up and down relationship, but she’s mostly concentrating on this new chapter for her son. And, no, she doesn’t believe he’s still obsessed with Hope. To be honest, I’m of the same mind, but the soap has proven us wrong before.
