Shake off those lightning rods! The DCEU has expanded with the nationwide theatrical premiere of Shazam! Fury of the Gods on March 17. This is the second installment in the Shazam! franchise with the first film having had a successful release back in 2019 grossing $366 million worldwide and receiving a multitude of positive critiques.

The film stars Zachary Levi as the title hero Shazam, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, and Helen Mirren.

The movie takes place after the events of the first film and centers again on Billy Batson, who alongside his foster siblings, are able to transform into superheroes and fight the Daughters of Atlas.

The film is based on the Captain Marvel comics from publisher DC and directed by David F. Sandberg from a script written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. The film is produced by New Line Cinema, DC Studios, The Safran Company, and Seven Bucks Productions.

Now that you know a little bit about the film, are you planning on seeing this film with young viewers or are you just interested in knowing if the movie is appropriate for young eyes to see? Regardless of whichever question is on your mind, read on to find out if Shazam! Fury of the Gods is appropriate for kids!

Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods appropriate for kids?

The answer is yes, if you’re 13 or older! Shazam! Fury of the Gods received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA. This comes as no surprise as the first Shazam film is also rated PG-13. The young characters in the movie are around the age of the possible moviegoers so feel free to bring your kids. There is a ton of action in this movie which is why it was given the PG-13 rating, but doesn’t necessarily overshadow the different story elements of the movie such as chosen family, and with Levi giving his all as the a kid-turned adult hero a la Tom Hanks in Big, you’re sure to enjoy watching the film with a younger crowd. Or, if you are an adult that just loves DC and planned to go by yourself. That works too!
