Where can you stream the American Hollow documentary?

Here at Hidden Remote, we love a good documentary! If you’re searching for a new doc to watch, you may want to keep an eye out for American Hollow, a 1999 documentary from Rory Kennedy.

The documentary is directed and produced by Rory Kennedy and was released in May 1999, but has been trending recently as fans have been searching where to watch the revealing doc.

American Hollow follows the Bowling family, which consist of a couple and their 13 children. They live in “dirt-poor Appalachia,” with only two of Iree Bowling’s children leaving their home in hopes of starting a better life. All are uneducated and unemployed, and domestic violence and alcoholism plagues the family.

The documentary is shared through interviews and footage of the family in their daily lives, mainly following Bascum, Clint, Edgar, Samantha, and Iree Bowling. So, where can you watch the film

Where can you stream the American Hollow documentary?

The movie is an HBO production, but American Hollow is nowhere to be found on HBO Max and it has no airings available on the HBO network. After some research, we have come up with the conclusion that the documentary is not available to stream anywhere.

In fact, we tried to rent or buy the movie on Vudu and other VOD formats, but it’s not available in any of those platforms, either. Perhaps now that the movie is trending on search engines again, HBO will bring it back so new eyes can check it out.
