Lifetime movies are made for slow Saturday nights that need a thrilling boost and the network rarely disappoints when it comes to films that’ll capture your attention. Up this week is Road Trip Hostage, a movie that’ll leave viewers wary of the road.

The film introduces viewers to a young woman who’s pursuing her dream even though it’s causing tension with her mother. Frustrated and angry, the young student takes off and leaves home. However, it doesn’t take long for her to run into trouble.

Alone and vulnerable, she’s taken hostage by a criminal who forces her to drive him across the country under penalty of death if she refuses. He’s got her at gunpoint and if she’s going to out fox him and come out of this alive, she’ll need to keep her wits about her until she can find an opening or at least until her mother (or someone close to her) realizes something is wrong and calls the authorities.

The movie premieres Saturday, April 29 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime. If you miss Road Trip Hostage‘s debut, it’ll re-air on Sunday, April 30 at 12:01 a.m. The film will also be available to stream Sunday on mylifetime.com as well.

Is Road Trip Hostage based on a true story?

According to Lifetime, the movie is inspired by real life events, it doesn’t draw from a specific hostage situation involving a young woman who was compelled at gunpoint to drive her captive across the country.
