Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is on everyone’s mind. It’s the first film about the beloved iconic character portrayed by Harrison Ford in 15 years. The last one–The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull–premiered in 2008. This fifth entry, which hits theaters on June 30, 2023, takes place in 1969 during the space race.

The U.S. government has recruited former Nazis to assist in defeating the Soviet Union in their quest to dominate the new frontier that is the heavens past the Earth’s jurisdiction. Jones is uneasy about this partnership. Jürgen Voller furthers this concern with his desire to make the world a better place but only through his own lens. He’s a member of NASA and an ex-Nazi working on the moon-landing program for America.

It’s been reported that the fifth movie in the Indiana Jones film series will be the last, but does this also mean viewers will be bidding goodbye to the character? In an interview with Total Film, Ford confirmed what most fans have expected.

Are the Indiana Jones movies finished?

Yes. While Disney+ announced the intention of developing an Indiana Jones television show, Ford won’t be a part of that project if it does get off the ground and get a greenlight.

The actor anticipates that The Dial of Destiny will be the last we see of his iconic character on the big screen. He said the following in the interview, as reported by Deadline:

"This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film."

The making of this fifth film has been a ten year dream for Ford and fans of the film series can looking forward to it ending on a bang! This has been a 40+ journey for the actor, so it only seems right that we bid goodbye to Indiana Jones on the silver screen with Harrison Ford’s last movie playing him.
