Happy Friday! We made it through the week, and now it’s time to plan our weekend. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters and available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

We are at the time of the year when we have plenty of options to check out in theaters. From the big-time holdovers in Little Mermaid to Fast X to the smaller movies like The Machine, About My Father, and one of the year’s best films in You Hurt My Feelings. That said, we’ve got a loaded slate of films adding to the mix this week.

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, In Theaters
  • The Boogeyman, In Theaters
  • Shooting Stars, Peacock
  • A Beautiful Life, Netflix
  • Missed Connections, Netflix
  • Reality, MAX

The weekend’s biggest release is the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The animated film that follows our favorite neighborhood Spider-Man from my favorite writing duo, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, sees Miles Morales catapulting across the Multiverse. The film has gotten rave reviews from critics, with some saying it’s better than the original.

This weekend, a solid counter-programming in theaters in the horror film with the adaptation of the Stephen King short story, The Boogeyman, which stars Sophie Thatcher and Chris Messina. The film comes from the director of the smash-hit horror film of 2020, Host, Rob Savage. Early reviews have been mixed on the movie sitting at, as of writing, 64% with critics and 50% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Over on the streaming side of things, you have quite a few options with the Sydney Sweeney-led MAX film, Reality. On Peacock, you have Shooting Stars, which takes a look at the young life of Lebron James. And Netflix has two new movies, A Beautiful Life and Missed Connections.
