Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse came to theaters in June 2023, and the cliffhanger ending has fans eager for the next installment. As a planned two-part story, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is already on many audiences’ minds, with the cast being a good way to predict the conclusion of the trilogy.

While there haven’t been official announcements about who is in the next movie, it’s relatively easy to guess which core characters will be coming back. Co-director Joaquim Dos Santos has discussed the focus of the series and its promises, explaining:

"I think one thing that we are incredibly cognizant of is, as big and as crazy as the film got, what we’re really locked in on is the journey of Miles and his family and his relation to his friends. … We knew part of the joy of Gwen getting the band back together was the promise that you’ll see them more in the next one."

While things could still change at any point, the Spider-Verse’s creators seem to have a solid idea of the story they’re telling and who needs to be a part of it. Unless there are surprising recasts for the previously-shown characters, fans can feel relatively confident in the cast line-up for Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Who has been confirmed in the Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse cast?

Although there have not been formal cast confirmations, the main protagonists and antagonists of Across the Spider-Verse are almost certainly going to be part of the third film. With this in mind, fans say with near certainty that the following actors will be in Beyond the Spider-Verse :

  • Shameik Moore as Miles Morales
  • Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy
  • Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis
  • Oscar Issac as Miguel O’Hara
  • Jason Schwartzman as Spot
  • Mahershala Ali as Aaron Davis
  • Jharrel Jerome as Miles G. Morales

In addition to the core cast, the finale of Across the Spider-Verse saw Gwen Stacy gather a rebel team of Spider-People, making it extremely probable that the following actors will also star in Beyond the Spider-Verse :

  • Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker
  • Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown (Spider-Punk)
  • Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar
  • Amandla Stenberg as Margo Kess (Spider-Byte)
  • John Mulaney as Spider-Ham
  • Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker
  • Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir

What actors can be expected to join the sequel to Across the Spider-Verse?

Although the above actors are certain to be in Beyond the Spider-Verse unless the characters are recast, several other characters will probably be in the film by virtue of their roles in the previous films. Characters that are important to Miles and Gwen are going to be critical to the third film sticking its landing.

With that in mind, expected cast members include:

  • Luna Lauren Velez as Rio Morales
  • Shea Whigham as Captain Stacy
  • Issa Rae as Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman)
  • Greta Lee as LYLA

What new characters can audiences expect in Beyond the Spider-Verse?

While the core cast of the Spider-Verse series is quite large, Phil Lord and Chris Miller have discussed expanding that group. When asked in a Collider interview about new characters, the duo shared:

"Believe it or not. You thought that you’ve seen every Spider-Person that you could imagine, but not every Spider-Person we can imagine."

While there is no way of knowing which characters will be added and who will be playing them, any Spiders from the comics or previous adaptations seem to be on the table, as well as others that are entirely new. Additional cast members will be added when information surrounding them becomes available.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is in theaters now. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is expected to open on March 29, 2024.
