The Bold and the Beautiful recap (June 14): Liam rejects Hope’s proposal

Today on The Bold and the Beautiful, Hope proposed that Liam come with her to Italy. She was trying to assuage her husband’s concerns by inviting him along, but Liam quickly rejected the offer. As he’s told more than one person, he doesn’t want to be the kind of man who feels like he has to keep an eye on his wife. That certainly wasn’t the spirit in which Hope asked if he’d like to go to Rome, but it’s how he took it so once again to the two were at an impasse.

In fact, they argued. Hope said she hated leaving like this, but she wasn’t going to budge on Thomas’ place by her side during one of the most momentous occasions that her brand, HFTF, has ever had the pleasure of putting on. While she did acknowledge that the line is her baby, and she’s the driving force behind Hope for the Future as its ambassador, Liam also knows that she considers Thomas to be her partner and she already told him that she couldn’t imagine going to Rome without her lead designer.

There’s also a logistical issue since everything has been booked for her and Thomas. They’re expected to be together during this trip, doing interviews and presenting the new collection to prospective buyers, suppliers, and the industry at large. Liam insisted that it wouldn’t be the end of the world if Thomas backed out last minute, but Hope wouldn’t hear of it. So, when the two did say goodbye, it was emotional. Liam recognized that he’d upset her, but she tearfully said she loves him, picked up her things, and left.

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful today?

The goodbyes at Forrester Creations went far better. Brooke spent her time filling in her sisters, Katie and Donna, in on the latest drama between her and Taylor. They both railed against Taylor for her actions, but also championed Brooke in her desire to rekindle her romance with Ridge.

For her, the fallout with Taylor opened her eyes to what she wants and that’s her great love. She’s just concerned that Ridge no longer believes in love and that he’s put a wall up between them to save them both from heartache and pain. Donna and Katie believe Brooke can get through to him and are cheering for a good outcome for the two in Italy.

Katie’s goodbye to Carter, who has been meticulously and excitedly planning this trip, was personal in nature. The couple shared a sweet goodbye, lamenting that they would miss each other but being happy about the Rome trip in general. They kissed in the office, while out in the hallway Brooke and Donna shared a goodbye and some farewells in Italian.

In the CEO’s office, Taylor, Steffy, Thomas, and Ridge were gathered. Taylor teased Ridge about making sure he had everything he needed including his passport which was safely tucked away in his pocket. She sipped more tea to help with the loss of her voice, and expressed that she was sorry she wouldn’t be going with them to Rome since it’s a business trip. Not, as she put it, that Brooke’s upset about it because she certainly doesn’t want her there. Taylor’s family was amused by the comment.

When Ridge exited the office for a moment, Taylor said goodbye to Steffy with a hug and a promise that she’d receive a phone call as soon as the Forrester jet touches down. Her well wishes with Thomas were private as she told him how proud of him that she is. Thomas told her that she’s a part of all his designs and the work he does. Taylor has been nothing but supportive of him, and the love was apparent between this mother-son duo.

Once she saw her kids off, Taylor got to have a one-on-one with Ridge. He didn’t initially want to talk about what went down with Brooke, but Taylor firmly reminded him that they haven’t talked about it all, so he quieted so she could say what she needed to. Taylor told Ridge that she has no doubt that Brooke will try to color his opinion of her, but that he needs to remember the source of the information he’s receiving. Then, she told him that she loves him and that he’s hard to shake because he’s so handsome. They flirted and playfully bantered over her admission, with Ridge smiling softly at Taylor.

By the time the story transitioned to the Forrester jet, everyone meant to be on the trip was awaiting takeoff with exception to Thomas and Hope. Steffy made a crack about it, which Brooke gave her a look for, but then Thomas entered complaining about the traffic. Hope followed a little after and was intercepted by Brooke who inquired into how her goodbye with Liam went and if everything was okay, but Hope just said that she had everything under control.

Considering she was fantasizing again about having sex with Thomas in Rome before she was interrupted by Liam coming home, Hope is talking a good game, but she may not have the willpower and resolve she thinks she does. She and Thomas locked eyes across the plane and there was definitely a vibe. But, for now, ciao, bellas! The next time we see each other, our soap will be in Rome.
