The Perfect Find: Who is Matthew? (The Perfect Find dedication explained)

Updated: June 29, 2023 – The Perfect Find, starring Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers, dropped Friday, June 23 on Netflix. The romantic comedy, adapted from the book by Tia Williams, centers on a relationship that blooms between Jenna Jones (Union), a 40 year old woman making her return to the fashion industry, and a man named Eric (Power), who is a videographer and the son of her boss, Darcy.

Jenna and Darcy have had a contentious dynamic for years since they came up through the ranks together as young women trying to make a name for themselves in their field. At first, Eric and Jenna don’t get along because of the emphasis Jenna puts on their age gap but, as they begin to learn about each other and discovered their shared interest in classic film, they fall in love.

In the credits for the movie, there’s a dedication that says, “In Loving Memory of Matthew.” Who is Matthew? Here’s what we know.

The Perfect Find dedication explained: Who is Matthew?

Netflix has confirmed the dedication is for Matthew Myers, a executive producer of the film. According to IMDb, he was born Oct. 14, 1968 and passed away on Aug. 20, 2021 at the age of 52. He had been in Iceland at the time with his wife Jacqueline Bussie. He suffered a heart attack while they were on a guided walk.

Myers’ producer credits include Netflix films Irreplaceable You, See You Yesterday, and Intrusion, the Prime Video movies Madres and Nocturne, and the 2004 film Speak  adapted from Laurie Halse Anderson’s award winning book and starring Kristen Stewart.

The Perfect Find looks to be Myers’ second to last movie before his death. Bliss starring Joe Maggio, which takes place 20 years after the first film in the series, is Myers’ final movie.
