We’ve got shocking news for fans of The Sex Lives of College Girls.

The popular Max original series was renewed last December during a time when the streamer was cancelling shows left and right. As such its third season is highly anticipated. Currently, there’s been no announcement on when season 3 will make its debut, but we have gotten word that a major cast member will be exiting the series.

Reneé Rapp, who plays Leighton, will be departing the show. Here’s what we know about her exit.

Why is Reneé Rapp leaving The Sex Lives of College Girls?

A reason for her exit hasn’t been confirmed. However, Rapp has been clear about her music career being a priority in her life. Her debut album, Snow Angels, is set to come out on Aug. 18. It’s likely that she wants to put more focus on her music as she transitions further into that part of the entertainment industry.

Will Reneé Rapp be in The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3?

Thankfully, however, Rapp’s departure won’t be abrupt in the show’s universe. Leighton’s storyline will get wrapped up in season 3 as the actress is going to be featured in a few episodes. She’s being billed as a recurring star for the season. But, upon her exit, fans shouldn’t anticipate Rapp appearing in a potential season 4. Her journey with the Max original will conclude with the short arc in the third season.
