General Hospital is about to receive a familiar face for those who watched All My Children, a daytime soap that ran from 1970-2011 on ABC before being canceled by the network. It was briefly brought back in 2013 as a web series before its run was ended again.

Jackson Montgomery, a prominent attorney on the program, will walk into Port Charles starting July 12. There’s been no word on what storyline he’ll be a part of, but Deadline refered to his appearance as a “stint,” so he’s not likely to stay around for long. Here’s what else we know.

Who is Jackson Montgomery on General Hospital?

The actor playing the part is none other than Walt Willey. He originated the role in 1987 and remained on All My Children until its cancellation in 2011.

His character was the former district attorney and a lawyer in Pine Valley. Jackson was the longtime love of Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane and was her former husband as well. He was also married to Laurel Banning and is the adoptive father of her daughter Lily as well as a teen by the name of Reggie Porter. Jackson shares a child with Mary Greenlee named Greenlee Smythe.

This isn’t the first time Willey has crossed over on another soap as Jackson Montgomery. He had a 1996 appearance in The City, another ABC program though this one was short lived as it only ran from 1995-1997. It was a spin-off of the popular Loving which ran for 12 years before being canceled.

Willey’s last credited acting role was for Tainted Dreams, where he played Gregory Ashford. The series, which got its start in 2014 and ended in 2017, was about the cast and crew of a fictional soap opera series by the same name as the actual show.
