A lot has changed over at The CW but at least Superman and Lois managed to escape the ax yet again at the network though it’s going to look a lot different in its fourth outing thanks to budget cuts. Like All American: Homecoming, the series will be contending with a reduced main cast as well. But we believe the show’s quality will still be superb.

As news comes in, Hidden Remote will be updating this post on everything we know about Superman and Lois season 4 from its release date, cast, plot, and more. Here’s what’s come out about the coming season so far!

Superman and Lois season 4 release updates

Due to the program being a midseason release, we don’t have an exact release date for season 4. However, we can say that it’ll premiere in 2024 sometime between January and March.

Is Superman and Lois season 4 filming?

No. Because of its usual release period in the midseason, filming doesn’t typically take place until September. There could be a delay this year due to the ongoing writers strike which has affected writers rooms across the industry and the actors strike that began July 14. We’ll keep you posted.

How many episodes will Superman and Lois season 4 have?

Once again the episode count has been decreased. The fourth season will have a total of 10 episodes.

Where to stream Superman and Lois season 4

While the season is airing on The CW, new episodes will be available to stream on cwtv.com and the CW App the following day after they air on TV. Once the season finale has aired, the show will be available to stream on Max, usually a month or so after it finishes its season run.

Superman and Lois season 3 ending explained

Anyone who has seen “What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger,” knows how wild and metal the finale of season 3 was.

The series wrapped up its cancer storyline with Lois as she was able to step back into her life with her chemo treatments finished and her recovery from surgery done as she awaited news on reconstruction after her mastectomy. Now able to fully walk about town and see a future for herself and her family, she reconnected with Clark intimately, began planning an overseas trip with him and her kids, and started wrapping her mind around going up against Lex Luthor since she won’t be giving up her career in journalism because he has a vendetta.

What Lois wasn’t aware of was just how deep Lex’s bitterness has gone. He blames her for the time he lost with his teenage daughter who is now a grown woman. The first step in his plan to get back at Lois involved turning Bizarro into Doomsday, a near unstoppable Kryptonian monster who can’t be killed and becomes impervious to the means of killing him once he heals from it.

Lex set Doomsday loose to ensnare Superman in a fight that he’s counting on the hero to lose so that Lois doesn’t have her protector there to stop him when he gets his ultimate revenge. The battle between the two Kryptonians was brutal and epic, with Clark thinking he’d killed Doomsday by impaling him on a building spire only for the Kryptonian to shimmy his way back up and continue attacking him..

At one point, Clark was beaten so bad that he fell unconscious and Doomsday flew them both into space. However, the thought of those who love him gave Clark strength, and he managed to keep up the fight with the new battleground being the moon. Season 3 concluded with the two still clashing with no end in sight.

Superman and Lois season 4 plot (predictions)

An official synopsis has yet to be released for the upcoming season. But, based on the season 3 finale, we know that part of the story is going to be predicated on Clark’s fight against Doomsday and his eventual return to Earth. The question is how long that will take and if the show will be doing their version of “A World Without Superman.” The synopsis for the graphic novel is as follows:

"In the ultimate battle, Superman sacrificed his own life in order to defeat the rampaging alien, Doomsday. But now that the planet is saved, the world must deal with the loss of their greatest hero. Superman’s closest allies, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash, and Green Lantern gather as they try to come to terms with the death of their friend. And as Clark Kent’s fiancée, Lois Lane, tries to cope with the loss of the man she loved, she discovers that Project Cadmus has stolen Superman’s body and it is now up to her and Lex Luthor’s girlfriend, Supergirl to stop them from cloning the Man of Steel."

Obviously, the series wouldn’t stick to closely to what unfolds between the pages of this collection, however, there are certainly plot points that can be drawn from it as Lois contends with Lex’s efforts to ruin her life that includes the kidnapping of her father, General Lane, which wasn’t resolved in the season 3 finale.

If Clark is absent from Earth for sometime, this also could mean we see Jordan step up as Superboy. He’d gotten a talking to from his parents in the finale over his need to be seen as a hero and receive recognition instead of choosing the path for altruistic reasons like being of service to those who need help. His father’s absence and his grandfather’s disappearance could be the catalyst for Jordan’s change of perspective.
