When does Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 come to Disney+?

August 2 update: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is not streaming on the Disney+ platform. 

After a troubled production where writer/director James Gunn was briefly let go and then returned, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a fine conclusion to the saga of the misfit cosmic “heroes” that began in 2014. The plotline delves into the past of Rocket (Bradley Cooper), who’s badly injured early in the film.

The rest of the Guardians race to find a cure for Rocket, which involves a dangerous reunion between Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana). They also have to face the evil High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) and the mysterious Adam Warlock (Will Poulter).

The movie has been a smash hit, earning over $800 million at the box office as of June 2023, and could crack the $1 billion mark by the time it’s done. Yet some may be wondering when it finally reaches Disney+ for home viewing.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently rocking viewers in movie theaters. But when does the wrap-up of this MCU saga come to Disney+?

When will GOTG 3 be on Disney Plus? (Release predictions)

Like most Marvel movies, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be coming to Disney+. There is a rule that a Disney theatrical release has a 45-day window before it can reach a streaming site. Given that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still doing well at the box office, Disney may want to put off having it on streaming for a bit as it’s done with past Marvel releases which have arrived on Disney Plus upwards of 70+ days after their theatrical debut.

The earliest Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could hit Disney+ is mid-August, but Disney may decide to wait until September or even October before putting it on. Often, the company times these to coincide with a Blu-Ray release, which also has not been announced.

When it does arrive, it’s likely that the movie will have extras like deleted scenes and the usual Marvel Studios Assembled “Making of” special. So while there’s no release date yet, fans should be able to enjoy the last romp of the Guardians on Disney+ sometime this fall.
