Is Damian Lewis coming back to Billions for season 7?

When Billions first made its debut on our screens in 2016, one of the main cast members in the show was Damian Lewis, aka Bobby Axelord. The actor remained with the series for five seasons, then exited and was not in season 6. Now with the seventh and final season here, is Damian Lewis coming back to Billions for season 7?

The last time we saw Axe was in the season 5 finale, “No Direction Home.” As we know, there’s always been tension between the hedge fund manager and former U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades. He wants to make an example out of Axe and though he does so in season 5, the billionaire is able to get away by fleeing to Switzerland.

The show left the character’s story open in terms of being able to return in the future if possible. So will we see the actor’s return? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Is Damian Lewis coming back to Billions for season 7?

Great news! Damian Lewis is coming back to Billions for season 7! Actually if you’ve already seen the premiere episode which began streaming Aug. 11, 2023 on Paramount+, you’ll notice that Axe pops in towards the end of the episode. We’re so happy to see his return! Those of you waiting to watch on Showtime will be able to do so on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. ET.

It’s not known which episodes Lewis will be in, but we do know how many. Billions season 7 is a total of 12 episodes, and the actor will appear in six of them. While that’s consecutively or spread out during the season, we’re not sure yet. We’ll have to wait and see how the story plays out.

Lewis left the show after season 5 for a number of reasons, including wanting to be home more in England. The drama films in New York City, so the back and forth travel got to be a lot. The actor also probably chose to spend more time at home due to his wife’s health. Lewis was married to actress Helen McCrory who died in April 2021 at the age of 52 following her battle with cancer.

Billions season 7 premieres new episodes Fridays on Paramount+ and Sundays on Showtime.
