Updated Nov. 13, 2023 – The world of The Equalizer was first introduced to audiences in the ’80s with a television show of the same name, created by Richard Lindheim and Michael Sloan. The duo then came back when a revival of the series was greenlit, and now they are co-showrunners and executive producers of the show that started in 2021. And it’s still going strong with the upcoming The Equalizer season 4!

Also joining them behind the scenes are Zoe Robyn, Meredith Mills, Joe Gazzam, Erik Lee, Jamila Daniel, Raymond Quinlan, and Jolian Blevins as producers. Here’s everything we know about the crime dram’s fourth season ahead of its release!

The Equalizer season 4 release date and strike delays

We have great news! CBS has officially confirmed when we can see the fourth season of our favorite show. The Equalizer season 4 premieres Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Episodes will be available to stream on Paramount+ the next day. While the crime drama is not coming back in 2023, we’re still over the moon about this news!

Season 4 will be between 10-13 episodes, per Deadline. This is a cut from the 18-episode seasons 2 and 3. The inaugural season of the show was 10 episodes.Currently, all three seasons of The Equalizer are streaming on Paramount+.

CBS renewed the show for a fourth season back in 2022, so we’ve known for a long time that it’s happening. But that doesn’t mean the writers started work on the production. They would have started in May 2023 if the writers strike didn’t happen (more on that below). So that’s why even though it got an early renewal, work on it is not complete.

Is The Equalizer season 4 affected by the strikes?

Yes, The Equalizer season 4 is affected by the writers strike and the actors strike. This is why the return of the series has been delayed and it didn’t come back in fall 2023. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) were on strike starting May 2, 2023. The good news though is that as of Sept. 25, the writers strike is over and writers can get back to work.

Many writers rooms reopened the week of Oct. 2. Though we’re not 100% sure whether the team has gone back in for The Equalizer. But since Deadline reports that filming is supposed to start back up again the week of Nov. 27, 2023, we’re assuming the writers room for the crime drama has opened back up.

But what’s important is that the writers are in fact allowed to go back to work now. This came after the guild and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), who represents the big studios in Hollywood came to an agreement after the months-long strike. The new contract is for three years and in effect through May 1, 2026.

Thankfully on Nov. 9, 2023, the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and AMPTP have also now come to a tentative agreement. This means the actors strike is over! While members of the guild still need to vote on the new three-year agreement, this does mean actors can get back to work. Hence the filming return date!

The Equalizer season 4
“He Ain’t Heavy” – Mel engages in a tense family reunion when she and her disapproving sister (Camilla Mana) race against the clock to save their brother Edison (Travis Salter) after he’s abducted. Also, as the team unravels the motivation behind Edison’s kidnapping, Mel grapples with the fallout of her argument with McCall about training Delilah, on the CBS Original series THE EQUALIZER, Sunday, Feb. 19 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Cast: Who could be returning?

An official cast list for the next chapter of the story hasn’t been shared yet. However, we do expect the main cast members to return. We shared them below:

  • Tory Kittles as Marcus Dante
  • Adam Goldberg as Harry Keshegian
  • Liza Lapira as Melody “Mel” Bayani
