The great Scott Pilgrim is back, but this time, the young musician is headed to the small screen in the upcoming anime series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
The “re-adapted” series is based off of the graphic novels created by Canadian cartoonist Bryan Lee O’Malley that were published in August 2004 until July 2010. Over millions of copies were sold. Even though the live-action film is considered a box office bomb, it developed a cult following since its initial release, garnering a fandom that’s obviously made an impact that the industry has recognized. The storyline follows a 22-year old slacker who plays bass guitar for band Sex Bob-Omb. As he’s trying to win a competition to get a record deal, he also has to battle the seven evil exes of his newest girlfriend Ramona Flowers.
O’Malley will serve as the showrunner and one of the executive producers. The co-writers of the live-action film Edgar Wright and Michael Bacall are also executive producers alongside Nira Park, and Marc Platt. All four produced the original live-action film as well. Just like the live-action film, the series will be an international co-production between several companies: Marc Platt Productions (United States), Complete Fiction (United Kingdom), Universal Content Productions (United States), and Science SARU (Japan)

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is set to be released on the streaming service on Friday, Nov. 17. So be sure to add it to your list today so you won’t forget when the time to stream comes.
How many episodes are in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off?
According to Variety, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will consist of eight episodes in its first season. It’s not known whether the episodes will release on a weekly schedule or if all eight episodes will drop on Netflix on the same day.
