Once again, Blumhouse has produced a horror movie with a concept you’re shocked hasn’t come up before. The first trailer for Totally Killer showcases a wild time-travel take on the slasher genre. Here’s the first trailer and information for this wild new Prime Video movie!

Over the last few years, Blumhouse Pictures has provided some wonderful genre mash-ups for slasher movies. Happy Death Day and its sequel mixed horror with Groundhog Day time loops. Freaky had a body-swap take on it. Now, Totally Killer, directed by Nahnatchka Khan from a screenplay by David Matalon, Sasha Perl-Raver and Jen D’Angelo is another idea it’s amazing hasn’t been used before: Halloween meets Back to the Future.

What is the movie Totally Killer about?

In 1987, Pam barely escaped the Sweet Sixteen Killer, who slaughtered her three friends. Today, a now adult Pam is warning her daughter Jamie not to go out on Halloween. Jamie ignores her, only for the Killer to return, murdering Pam and chasing Jamie. They fight in an arcade where, somehow, Jamie finds herself transported back in time to 1987.

With the police naturally not believing her claims, Jamie is determined to save the lives of her mother and her friends, who insist on heading to a deserted cabin. She’s on a clock because if she doesn’t find a way back to her own time, she’ll be trapped in the past forever. To top it off, Jamie has to deal with the realization her straight-laced and pious mother was once a foul-mouthed “mean girl,” which oddly bonds them more as they try to survive this murderer.

Who stars in the movie Totally Killer?

Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) plays Jamie, a good casting given her connection to horror films. Julie Bowen of Modern Family plays mother Pam, with Olivia Holt as the teenage version of Pam. The supporting cast includes Randall Park and Anna Diaz.
