Updated: Sept. 16, 2023 – ABC has announced their Fall 2023 schedule…and it’s shocking for what’s not on it. Because in what could be a foreboding sign of the current Writers Guild of America strike, ABC’s schedule is going to be avoiding almost any scripted fare. Why is this happening, and what does it look like? Find out!

Currently, Hollywood is frozen by an ongoing strikes of the Writer’s Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA unions over more pay and residual rights. This has left much of the upcoming Fall TV schedules to be stacked with unscripted content instead of the usual scripted fare.

The network has been making moves such as canceling several shows, such as The Company You Keep and Big Sky, while picking up 9-1-1 from Fox. However, the focus is going to be on reality TV and game shows as the network rides out the strikes.

That includes having Dancing With the Stars returning to the network after it was banished to Disney+. They’re also bringing back the reality shows What Would You Do? and Shark Tank, as well as resurrecting the old Wonderful World of Disney for Sundays, which presumably will be a mix of Disney movies and specials.

The only new program is The Golden Bachelor, a take on the reality show mainstay focusing on the 65 and older crowd. Mondays will now feature Monday Night Football.
