Updated: Nov. 13, 2023 – While The Irrational is 10 episodes, viewers will be contending with a hiatus for season 1 due to a delay in filming the last three episodes. The series will return in 2024.

Actor Jesse L. Martin played a police captain in The Flash and he was definitely a lovable character. In his new series he’s not in law enforcement himself, but his character helps law enforcement out very much in The Irrational on NBC. How many episodes are in the show?

The drama stars Martin as Alec Mercer, a very smart behavior science professor whose expertise is used by governments, corporations, and law enforcement, per the synopsis. He also leads a team, and the group works to work out “illogical puzzles and perplexing mysteries” in high-stakes cases. We’re always here for a mystery thriller, so we can’t wait!

The Irrational is a total of 10 episodes. The show premieres Monday, Sept. 22, 2023 on NBC. Each week, episodes begin at 10 p.m. ET on Monday nights. Episodes are also available to stream on Peacock the next day. We shared the release schedule below:

The first episode features Professor Alec Mercer having to investigate the murder of an influencer, per the synopsis. In episode 2, “Dead Woman Walking,” an investigative journalist and old friend of the professor comes to him for help after she’s poisoned with a “rare and deadly nerve agent,” per the synopsis.

Joining Martin onscreen are Maahra Hill as Marisa, Travina Springer as Kylie, Molly Kunz as Phoebe, and Arash DeMaxi as Rizwan.

The Irrational premieres Monday, Sept. 25, 2023 on NBC. Episodes are also available to stream on Peacock the next day.
