Futurama season 12: Is Futurama getting another season?

Futurama wrapped season 11 on Sept. 25 on Hulu, leaving fans wondering if the Planet Express crew will return for a possible season 12. Has the animated series been renewed for another season?

The show went off the air after being canceled twice, first by Fox in 2003 and then by Comedy Central in 2013. In 2023, Futurama found its new home on Hulu. Season 11 premiered on July 24 and comprising of 10 episodes. The season’s theme highlighted significant events from the past decade, including the pandemic and the rise and fall of an online conglomerate, all set in a funny, satirical format.

Will Fry, Leela, Bender, Hermes, Professor Farnsworth, Zoidberg, and Amy be able to continue their stories beyond the season 11 finale, titled “All The Way Down?” Or will they float into a black hole, never to be seen or heard from again?

Is Futurama season 12 happening?

Yes, there’ll be a season 12 of the Matt Groening production, but its Hulu drop date hasn’t yet been revealed. However, fans attending New York Comic-Con 2023 from Oct. 12-15 will get a special Futurama presentation, a panel with the show’s creative team, and the finale screening.

Per NYCC’s website, the presentation is described in the following:

"“The beloved sci-fi, animated series Futurama triumphantly returned to Hulu with all new episodes after a brief ten-year hiatus. Celebrate with a room full of Futurama fans as we screen the season [11] finale episode and get a sneak peek at season 12, followed by a panel with the creatives behind the show. (from 20th Century Animation)”"

Claudia Katz, the leading executive producer, shared with the outlet Digital Spy her hopes that Hulu will continue Futurama after 12 seasons.

"“Hulu ordered 20 episodes, which will run as seasons 11 and 12 on Hulu. The reaction to the new episodes has been exceptional, and we’re all hoping they order more. There are so many great stories left to tell!”"

How many episodes will season 12 have?

Like season 11, season 12 will have 10 episodes, airing newly weekly. It looks like Fry and his team with continue with their futuristic adventures. Will you be watching?
