It’s time to go back to the dancefloor as BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing has returned to TV screens all over the UK for its 21st series. And after 2022’s memorable series, expectations are high!

Last week’s episode saw the 15 new couples take to the dancefloor for the very first time and it was undoubtedly one of the highest-standards of dancing that a premiere episode of Strictly has ever seen. Angela Rippon left audiences stunned with her Cha Cha Cha, while Nigel Harmon brought the house down with a fiery Paso Doble to close the show. Oh yes, it’s going to be a good series.

All 15 couples could breathe a sigh of relief after the first week of dancing concluded as there would be no eliminations. Now, however, they have taken to the dancefloor again for Week 2, and this time, you could feel the fear of the first elimination in the air. So what exactly went down?

*** This article contains spoilers from Strictly Week 2’s Saturday Night show. If you have yet to watch this week’s episode and would prefer the dances or scores weren’t spoiled for you, don’t read on! ***

Strictly spoilers and results: Week 2 Leaderboard

Strictly’s Week 2 episode was almost as long as Week 1, which should come as no surprise given that all 15 couples performed again this week. And what a night it was, as Layton and Nikita brought the house down with a glitzy Quickstep that got the judges on their feet, Nigel and Katya danced a beautiful Viennese Waltz to Stephen Sanchez’s viral hit “Until I Found You”, and Angela Rippon and Kai smoothed it up with a classic Foxtrot that once again left audiences in awe.

But what did the Leaderboard look like at the end of the night? Well, it’s important to remember that Week 1’s scores are carried over to Week 2, so that was always going to impact the Week 2 Leaderboard. Taking that into account, let’s look at the scores from the Strictly Week 2 dances (combined with the Week 1 scores).

Here are the results from the Strictly Week 2 Saturday night show, the scores, and the Leaderboard we were left with:

  • Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin – 9, 9, 9, 9 = 36 (+29) = 65
  • Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice – 8, 8, 8, 8 = 32 (+29) = 61
  • Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola – 8, 8, 7, 8 = 31 (+29) = 60
  • Nigel Harman and Katya Jones – 7, 7, 6, 7 = 27 (+32) = 59
  • Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington – 8, 8, 7, 8 = 31 (+28) = 59
  • Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell – 7, 7, 7, 8 = 29 (+29) = 58
  • Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu – 7, 7, 7, 8 = 29 (+23) = 52
  • Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe – 4, 6, 6, 6 = 22 (+28) = 50

  • Jody Cundy and Jowita Przystal – 3, 4, 4, 5 = 16 (+21) = 37
  • Nikita Kanda and Gorka Marquez – 3, 5, 5, 5 = 18 (+18) = 36

Who is in danger on Strictly Week 2?

The people are the bottom of the Leaderboard are, as always, in most danger. That being said, Week 2 of Strictly Come Dancing is always an interesting one. Being that it’s the first week of eliminations, audiences are eager to see who is popular in the public vote and how that can change the Leaderboard. Speaking of the Leaderboard, as there are 15 couples in the competition, those at the bottom stand a better chance of escaping the dreaded Dance-Off.

Right now, it’s looking like Les and Nancy and Nikita and Gorka are in the most danger as they are at the bottom of the Leaderboard, but anyone in the bottom half of the Leaderboard is vulnerable at this stage, especially as there is a three-way tie between Zara, Adam and Krishnan. The public vote will split that tie, so whoever gets the least amount of votes between those three could also end up in the Dance-Off.

The likely Dance-Off is Les vs. Nikita, but with so many couples, a tie, and the mystery of the public vote, anything could happen.

Update Sunday, October 1: As revealed in the Sunday Night results shows, Les Dennis and Nancy Xu did indeed have to dance off against Nikita Kanda and Gorka Marquez. The judges unanimously saved Nikita, eliminating Les from the competition.

Les and Nancy certainly provided us with great entertainment in their Strictly journey. Rewatch their joyous Week 2 Samba below:
