Hotel Transylvania movies in order (and where to watch)

Horror movies are great for the month of October, but they’re not everyone’s cup of tea. And that genre is definitely not ideal for kids. Some of you might turn to something like the Twilight films, or families may be looking for something a bit more family-friendly to celebrate the spooky season. Hocus Pocus and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown are some great options that I recommend. Another is the Hotel Transylvania movies! So how many are there and how can you watch them in order?

There’s a total of four Hotel Transylvania movies, as well as a few short films. There’s even a television series that serves as a prequel to the first feature production. What’s great about the four main movies at least is that when it comes to story and what year they came out, everything is in chronological order. Where to watch the Hotel Transylvania movies

Unfortunately, not all of the Hotel Transylvania movies are streaming in the same spot. You’re going to have to have access to multiple platforms to watch them all. The first one is streaming on Hulu, while the second production in the franchise can be found on Netflix. Summer Vacation is on Hulu, while the fourth and final film, Transformania, is available on Prime Video.

When it comes to the series, it ran for two seasons and has a total of 52 episodes. That’s a lot of content to keep you busy! It’s set four years before the first film. The show is centered around Mavis as she has adventures in the hotel with her best friends while her father, Dracula, is away at the Vampire Council. It originally aired on Disney Channel. Though now to watch any episodes, you’ll need to purchase them through platforms like YouTube, Vudu, and Prime Video.

And finally when it comes to the short films, two of them are easy to find. They are both uploaded for free on YouTube thanks to Sony Pictures Animation. Those are Puppy! and Monster Pets. But the very first short film, Goodnight Mr. Foot, is currently not available to stream or watch anywhere online. Goodnight Mr. Foot is centered around Bigfoot as he comes across the hotel. The monster comedy franchise stars Adam Sandler as Dracula, Selena Gomez as Mavis, Andy Samberg as Jonathan “Johnny,” Kevin James as Frankenstein, Steve Buscemi as werewolf Wayne, CeeLo Green as mummy Murray, Fran Drescher as Frankenstein’s wife Eunice, Molly Shannon as Wayne’s wife Wanda, and David Spade as s Griffin the Invisible Man.

The story starts out at a party for Mavis’ 118th birthday. Dracula invites all his friends to the hotel for the celebrations, but things get complicated when a human, Johnny, “unwittingly crashes” the party and falls in love with Mavis, per the synopsis. As the hotel is just for monsters to come and relax, Johnny’s arrival changes things.
