Hello, Sassenachs! How are you all holding up during this Droughtlander? The first half of Outlander season 7 premiered on June 16, 2023 and then midseason finale debuted Aug. 11 on Starz. Now, we (im)patiently await part 2. The second half of the season is slated for sometime in 2024. However the network didn’t say when in the new year we can expect the series to be back just yet.

Even though we’re waiting for an update on the release date, that doesn’t mean we’re not thinking of what’s to come next for our beloved Jamie and Claire, as well as the other characters in this wonderful story.

We do know for sure that unfortunatley Fergus and Marsali aren’t going to be in Outlander season 7 part 2. However when it comes to Lizzie and the Beardsleys, as well as Aunt Jocasta, we’re making a prediction. We breakdown all the reasons below!

Fergus and Marsali

While we’re not sure about the other characters on this list, unfortunatley it’s been confirmed that part of the Fraser family, Fergus and Marsali, will not be in the rest of the season. In August 2023, executive producer Maril Davis spoke with Express.co.uk. In the interview, she shared that the two characters won’t be coming back this time around due to scheduling conflicts. Which means no Fergus and Marsali in season 7 part 2. We shared what she told the outlet below:

"No unfortunately, we’ll not see Marsali and Fergus this season. You know, Lauren [Lyle] was busy with a couple of other things as was César [Domboy]. So you know that was purposely in talking with those actors and where we decided to take this season, we don’t see their stories unfortunately."

Now I’m a show-only fan, so I don’t know how this might affect the storylines to come. We’ll have to wait and see! In season 6, Fergus and Marsali decided to move to New Bern to provide a better life for their kids, especially Henri-Christian who is a dwarf and was not accepted by the settlers on Fraser’s Ridge. With Outlander season 8 being the last one, hopefully we’ll get to see these two fan-favorite characters one last time. I think it would be a shame if we don’t!

Lizzie and the Beardsleys

When it comes to Lizzie and the Beardsley twins, this is just a prediction on my end. Davis has not confirmed or denied their return in part 2. We all know just how quickly the story and events move in the time-travel drama. But with Jamie and Claire now finally making their way to Scotland, I think they’re going to be there for a while.

I mean that’s just a guess. You never really know with this show! So if they’re in Scotland, that probably means we’re not going to see what’s happening on Fraser’s Ridge while the doctor and her Highlander are away. I love Lizzie, but with the limited time each episode has, I don’t think her story with Kezie and Josiah are as important to cut away to like Bree and Roger’s in the future.

Aunt Jocasta

Once again, the lack of Aunt Jocasta in season 7 part 2 is also another guess. But for the same reasons mentioned above when it comes to Fraser’s Ridge, I don’t think Aunt Jocasta will have onscreen time in the second half of the story. She may be mentioned as Jamie is headed home, but I honestly don’t think we’re going to see her. She’s such a likable character, and definitely a MacKenzie. I love Maria Doyle Kennedy’s portrayal of her! But just in thinking, I’m not seeing a big enough story with Jamie and Claire gone that she would be a part of it. But, I could be wrong. Hopefully we’ll see soon in the coming months!
