American Horror Stories just unleashed a new set of episodes on Hulu. However, just how much of a connection is there between this series and the regular American Horror Story show?

American Horror Story has established itself as a hit on FX with its long-range season-long storylines mixing various themes of horror, sci-fi, and more. American Horror Stories is different as each episode is a stand-alone story.

There are similarities as many AHS actors are used in American Horror Stories as well. Most of the Stories episodes are easily resolved in the episode with some hinting at darker tales and even world-ending threats.

So it seems they can be mostly stand-alone stories, but as it turns out, there are some connections to the main American Horror Story series.

What connections are there between AHS and American Horror Stories?

The first two-part American Horror Stories episode had a huge link to the first season of AHS, Murder House. “Rubber(wo)man” focused on teenager Scarlett moving into the infamous Murder House with her fathers. Finding that rubber suit, Scarlett was soon led into a dark road of murder.

This paid off in the first season finale, “Game Over,” about a video game developer trying to create a game based on Murder House. This had a cameo from Dylan McDermott as Ben Harrison and culminated in that House burning down.

Another connection is the Season 2 premiere, “Dollhouse” where a group of women are held captive by a twisted man. It appeared to be a stand-alone tale, but the climax revealed a surprising link to the AHS season Coven and how one character was tied into the tale.

So, while American Horror Stories are mostly stand-alone tales, you never know when a surprising link to an AHS season might come along to make it more fun to watch.
