Who does Sterling K. Brown play in Invincible season 2?
Invincible just kicked off its second season in a fantastic way! It also has Sterling K. Brown in a prime role, but who does the Emmy-winning actor play on the Prime Video series?
Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for the Invincible season 2 premiere
The second season of the animated superhero show opened in a horrifying way by showing Mark joining his dad Omni-Man in slaughtering the Immortal before continuing on their rampage conquering Earth. That included the remaining Guardians of the Globe with Mark snapping Atom Eve’s neck to leave her alive but paralyzed.
They were confronted by Armstrong Levy, played by Sterling K. Brown, who was defiant about defeating the pair. He escaped through a portal, and as it turned out, this was an alternate reality where Mark chose to join his father rather than fight him.
In the prime timeline, Mark was dealing with the aftermath of his dad’s rampage. Keeping to his dual identity in high school, Mark put out the story that his father was killed in Omni-Man’s attack (which ironically had the bully Todd making peace with him) as he kept up his heroics while wrestling with his dad’s legacy. That included trying to form a new Guardians of the Globe.
Armstrong broke the Mauler Twins out of prison, revealing his ability to access alternate worlds. He shared the disturbing detail that in most realities, Mark joined Omni-Man, making one where he remained a hero a rarity.
With the Twins help, Armstrong planned on building a device that would allow him to access the minds of all his alternate selves across the multiverse. He believed that would give him the knowledge to solve any problems of any Earth. In exchange, he’d let the Maulers go to a world with no superheroes at all.
What happens to Armstrong in Invincible season 2?
Just as the device was activated, Invincible showed up, not ready to trust anyone with power like this. He fought the Maulers as Armstrong brought in countless variants of the Maulers to fight. However, this went against Armstrong’s pacifist beliefs and he made the mistake of removing the helmet in mid-process. That set off a huge explosion that wrecked the lab.
The post-credits scene had one Mauler surviving, although horribly burned. He found Armstrong, who now had all the knowledge of his alternate selves but was also hideously mutated and imbued with the rage of his selves from dystopian worlds. That had him vowing to kill Invincible.
So it looks like Armstrong is going to be the big bad of season 2 and spark Invincible with even more wild superhero action.
Invincible season 2 streams new episodes Fridays on Prime Video.
