If you’ve been scouring Peacock looking for Magnum P.I. season 5, episode 16 “Run with the Devil,” it’s not late to the platform. A new episode of the NBC procedural didn’t air on the network Wednesday, Nov. 8 due to the Republican Primary Debate for the 2024 election. The special event preempted the entire block and pushed Magnum’s case of the week off the schedule.

But, don’t worry, this move didn’t trigger an extended hiatus. Episode 16 will premiere on Nov. 15 at 9 p.m. ET. In the previous episode, “The Retrieval,” the question of Magnum and Higgins’ preferred parenting styles came up. The two have been navigating the possible reality of having a child together after their pregnancy scare. While they didn’t settle on how they’d approach raising a little one, the conversation has been broached and there’s sure to be more down the road.

The case in “Run with the Devil” isn’t necessarily centered on child rearing but it does present the opportunity for Magnum P.I. to circle back to the couple’s conversation about values and how they’re shaped by culture and the way in which you were raised. This go around, Magnum and Higgins will be investigating the disappearance of a teen girl who’d been raised Amish. Her brother has traveled to Hawaii to look for her since she ran away. But, as the trailer shows, it’s not that cut and dry. She’s caught on tape in the middle of holding up a dispensary.

In the above video, Magnum expressed wanting to have a laid back approach to raising a child while Higgins prioritized structure and discipline. Helping an Amish teen opens the door to discuss the value in both of their positions as there are young adults who embrace Rumspringa–the time in which Amish youth are allowed to leave their communities in the wider world–and decide to break from the tradition they were born into or make the decision to commit to the church and take up their responsibilities as an adult in the Amish community.

Whichever position Magnum and Higgins do eventually land on regarding their hypothetical child, we know the journey there is sure to be an interesting one!
