Courteney Cox has become the second member of the core Friends cast to break their silence following the death of Matthew Perry, taking to Instagram to share a sweet tribute in honor of her late TV husband.

"“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day,” Cox wrote in her Instagram tribute. “When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites.”"

In honoring Perry, Cox used her Instagram tribute to share a sweet behind-the-scenes story about a scene that literally changed the trajectory of the pair’s characters. The scene we’re referring to hails from the season 4 finale in which audiences saw Chandler and Monica for the first time in bed together.

While the story was initially supposed to be a one-off plot line, the audience reception was so positive, that the iconic moment between the characters became the start of Monica and Chandler’s love story.

"“To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story. In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind”"

Cox is the latest of the core cast to remember their former costar and dear friend, following Matt LeBlanc in breaking her silence with a personal tribute.

On Tuesday morning, LeBlanc became the first to break his silence after the cast asked for privacy in a joint statement in the immediate wake of Perry’s passing. In his touching tribute, LeBlanc reflected on the times they had together which he recalled as being “among the favorite times” in his life, and called it an “honor to share the stage” with Perry on the show:

"“It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend,”I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love.”"
