Law and Order season 23 cast: Who’s in and who’s out?
By Sabrina Reed
Law and Order season 23 is arriving to the 2023-2024 schedule late but, to be fair, so is most of television. With the writers and actors strikes over, Hollywood is getting back to work. Of course, this means news is rolling in hot about when productions will start, when show’s will premiere, who is being added to a series and, unfortunately, who’s being written out.
As for the latter, the verdict has been read. TVLine reports Jeffrey Donovan is exiting the NBC procedural after two seasons on the show as Detective Frank Cosgrove. His character championed an old school way of thinking and had an abrasive personality. According to the outlet’s source, Donovan’s departure from the series boils down to “creative reasons.” Perhaps, the show is looking to move in another direction.
Stay tuned for the announcement of a cast addition. The search for a new Law and Order series regular is ongoing. Cosgrove was Jalen Shaw’s (Mehcad Brooks) partner. Another partner will need to be found and quickly. Filming on season 23 is reportedly set to begin before November comes to a close. And, while a release date hasn’t been confirmed, all of Wolf Entertainment’s series are expected to start airing in early 2024. Fans can anticipate a 13 episode season.
Law and Order season 3 cast (as we know it so far):
- Mehcad Brooks as Jalen Shaw
- Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy
- Hugh Dancy as Nathan Price
- Oldelya Halevi as ADA Samantha Maroun
- Camryn Manheim as Lt. Kate Dixon
Rick Eid will remain the showrunner and executive producer of the flagship series. He’s pulling double duty as the showrunner and executive producer for FBI as well.
