On Friday, Nov. 17’s episode of The Young and the Restless, daytime veteran Coleen Zenk (Jordan) debuted as Claire Grace’s (Hayley Erin) aunt. Fans instantly recognized the actor who portrayed Barbara Ryan on creator Irna Phillips’ beloved soap opera As the World Turns. Zenk’s thirty-five-year run ended when the long-running daytime staple aired its last show in September 2010.

Claire was Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) new assistant. Now, she is one in a long line of exposed enemies. The audience was tipped off to Claire’s obsession with the Newman family, with Aunt Jordan revealed as being part of an unfolding sinister revenge plan against Nikki. Luring Nikki to a remote cabin in Oregon under the pretense of meeting her aunt was ominous. Then, after arriving, Nikki was drugged and hooked up to an intravenous unit that cruelly fed a known alcoholic vodka.

Elsewhere in Genoa City, Wisconsin, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) pleaded to reconcile with his cousins and return to Chancellor-Winters, with Aunt Mamie’s (Veronica Redd) support. Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) remains unable to prevent herself from being drawn to Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), who is considering leaving the police force. Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) continues to believe that he can manage Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) return to town while maintaining his growing relationship with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil).

The Young and the Restless spoilers at a glance (per Soaps She Knows):

  • Monday, Nov. 20: Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) wants to go on the offense against Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John). Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) joins Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) in pushing Chance to change careers. Mamie has to make a significant business decision that is tied to family.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 21: Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who told Nikki that he would clean up their family problems while she was away on what should have been a pleasant trip to see her sister before Thanksgiving, receives an unsettling update. Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) believes she can maintain her hold on Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). Claire plots another trap while Nikki plans to escape and Jordan’s presence is felt.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 22: Lily and Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) address Nate’s requests. Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) and his mother, Gloria Abbott Bardwell (Judith Chapman), return to town with news that stuns their family. Ashley Abbott McCall (Eileen Davidson) pursues her estranged husband in hopes of learning Tucker’s intentions.
  • Thursday, Nov. 23: Thanksgiving in the United States means that the show will be preempted in some markets. A classic episode from Feb. 4, 1993, will be seen in those markets where Y&R is not preempted.
  • Friday, Nov. 24: No show will be seen today due to sports coverage in the United States.

Family drama before Thanksgiving on The Young and the Restless

The idea that Jack would allow Tucker to attack Jabot without reprisal is preposterous on Monday, Nov. 20. The dialogue heat surrounding Chance stepping down as Police Chief has increased, which makes fans wonder if the promotion happened purely to weave Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) name into the story. Mamie’s goals are heartfelt and appear ready to be realized.

Viewers sense what is coming with the Newman family on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The petty games Victor played with three of his children and the unjust ouster of Nate will be contrasted against Nikki’s plight in the near future. While Claire bought time with her fake text update, Victor and his children stand to soon learn the truth while Nikki fights to fend off her demented assailants. It also seems like Kyle has finally seen the error of his ways and is breaking from Audra.

It is becoming clear that Lily and Devon are inclined to give Nate another chance on Wednesday, Nov. 22. However, they will likely establish a set of boundary lines during what should be an extended test period, assuming more than a personal reconciliation is greenlighted. It is always great to see the terrific Le Blanc. The same is true for Chapman, who is an all-time great scene-stealer. Ashley and Tucker care about each other but whether they remain split or reconcile may still be an open question.
